About Yangshuo Wildways

Yangshuo's adventure scene was pioneered by Western guides who came for the karst and stayed. Our team trained in that lineage โ€” real safety, real skill, and outdoor days built around what international travelers actually want.

Trained in Yangshuo's Guiding Tradition

Yangshuo's outdoor-adventure scene wasn't built by tour operators. Since the early 2000s, long-resident European and American professional guides came here for the karst โ€” some of the finest rock and river country on earth โ€” and stayed to build a guiding culture from the ground up.

We grew up alongside that community and trained in its lineage. That's why we pair genuine technical and safety competence with a real feel for what Western and international travelers actually want: cycling rice-paddy paths before the buses arrive, kayaking quiet rivers, and easy walks to viewpoints few visitors ever reach.

The result is soft outdoor adventure โ€” stunning scenery at an intensity you can dial up or down, beginner-friendly but real. Plenty of it is family-friendly, with activities kids can join too.

  • Trained in Yangshuo's Western-pioneered guiding tradition since the early 2000s
  • Soft outdoor โ€” adjustable intensity, beginner-friendly, many activities kids can join
  • Strict small-group policy โ€” max 8โ€“10 per guide
  • Internationally certified, English-speaking guides with a strong safety culture

There's a viewpoint above the karst towers where the mist comes in low in the morning โ€” you can see three valleys and hear nothing. You reach it on a quiet village path โ€” no tour group has booked it, and most visitors to Yangshuo never know it's there.

In a village in the Yangshuo countryside, a farmer once insisted we stay for lunch. No menu, no performance. Just a family table, local rice wine, and an afternoon that showed our guests more of real life here than any sightseeing stop ever could.

"This isn't what I imagined at all."

โ€” what people say at the end of almost every trip we guide

Life is already beautiful.

We just help you see it.

Yangshuo Wildways was born not from a business plan, but from a feeling. We grew up alongside the Western guides โ€” climbers and cyclists from Europe and America โ€” who, since the early 2000s, made Yangshuo their home and built its outdoor-adventure scene. They taught us, candidly and generously, both the craft of guiding safely and what international travelers actually want. We started this company in 2012 to carry that on.

We still design every journey the same way: start with what the karst landscape offers, set the intensity to suit the people in front of us, and make room for those who want to bring the kids. Small groups, at their own pace, with certified guides who genuinely care where they end up.

"Service that comes from genuine love โ€” for our work, our culture, and our lives."
