Getting Here

China is wonderfully easy to navigate once you're set up right. Here's what to prepare before you fly — and how to reach us once you land.

Before You Arrive

A few things to sort before you board will make your first hours in China much smoother.

📋

Check Your Visa

Most nationalities need a Chinese tourist visa (L visa). Apply at your nearest Chinese consulate or embassy before departure. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Some nationalities now qualify for 30-day visa-free entry — check the latest policy before applying.

📱

Set Up Mobile Payment

WeChat Pay (微信支付) or Alipay (支付宝) is how almost everything is paid for in China — restaurants, shops, transport, markets, and street food. Set up one or both before you fly and link an international Visa or Mastercard. Keep ¥200–300 cash as a backup only; you'll barely need it.

📡

Get a SIM or eSIM

Google, Instagram, and WhatsApp are blocked in mainland China without a VPN. Pick up a Chinese SIM at the airport (China Mobile / China Unicom desks are in Arrivals) or buy an international eSIM before departure. Install a VPN before you land to restore access to your usual apps.

📲

Download These Apps

  • DiDiride-hailing — register with an international card before arrival
  • WeChatmessaging + WeChat Pay
  • Alipaypayment backup
  • 高德地图 / Amapnavigation — Google Maps does not work in China

Getting to Yangshuo

Yangshuo is easy to reach from Guilin — by airport bus, train, or taxi. Once you're in town, we pick you up at your hotel.

✈️

From Guilin Liangjiang International Airport

~1.5 hours

  • Direct airport bus — Look for the Yangshuo-bound shuttle outside Arrivals. Runs regularly throughout the day. Drops you near West Street. Cheapest option (~¥50–70).
  • Taxi / DiDi — Fixed-price airport taxis or DiDi (Chinese Uber). Faster and door-to-door. Approximately ¥200–280 depending on traffic. Show the driver our Chinese address below.
  • Private transfer — Ask us when booking. We can arrange a driver to meet you at Arrivals with a name board.
🚄

From Yangshuo Railway Station

~1 hour to Yangshuo town by taxi or bus

  • Taxi / DiDi — The most convenient option. Approximately ¥100–150 to Yangshuo town. Show the driver your hotel's Chinese name — the box below has a phrase you can screenshot.
  • Bus — Local buses connect the station to Yangshuo town centre. Journey ~1 hour. Ask at the station for the Yangshuo Xi Jie (西街) service.

Yangshuo Railway Station is the closest high-speed rail station to us — the most convenient arrival point if you're travelling from Guilin, Guangzhou, or other cities on the high-speed network.

🚂

From Guilin Railway Station

~1.5 hours by bus

  • Direct bus to Yangshuo — The Yangshuo bus departs from the south bus terminal adjacent to the station. Journey ~1.5 hours (~¥20).
  • Taxi / DiDi — Approximately ¥180–250 direct to Yangshuo town.

Guilin Station (桂林站) handles slower regional trains and is in the city centre.

Getting Around Yangshuo

We collect you from your hotel

  • Private transfer to activities — Activity prices exclude transport. We can send a private car to your hotel and bring you back afterwards: $15–30 return for a 4-seater, $20–35 return for a 6-seater from Yangshuo town, with the exact fare confirmed at booking since it varies by distance to the site. It is the no-hassle option — mention your accommodation when you book. Prefer to travel independently? Make your own way to the activity site and meet your guide there.
  • Walking — If you're staying in the town centre, the restaurants, ATMs and rental shops are all within a 5–10 minute walk. West Street (西街) is the main drag.
  • E-bike rental — Available at most hostels (~¥50–120/day). The most popular way to explore the countryside between activities.
  • DiDi / local taxi — Use DiDi (requires Chinese phone number) or flag a local taxi. Enter the activity site or your hotel as the destination.

Getting to Yangshuo in Chinese

Most taxi and DiDi drivers in Guilin and Yangshuo do not speak English. Screenshot this box and show it on your phone — then add your hotel's Chinese name, which your booking confirmation will have.
